Laura Lawton is a Kent-based jazz vocalist known for her distinctive tone, warm delivery and love of timeless songs. Classically trained from a young age, including at the Guildhall School of Music in London, Laura initially focused on classical and operatic repertoire before following her passion for jazz.
Performing regularly across the South East and London, Laura has built a reputation for elegant, engaging performances combining much-loved standards with lesser-heard gems of the jazz repertoire. Her influences range from Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Etta Jones and Blossom Dearie to contemporary artists including Diana Krall, Stacey Kent and Madeleine Peyroux. Her repertoire spans swinging standards, Latin and bossa nova through to intimate jazz ballads.
2026 has marked an exciting new chapter with Laura performing at the Rye International Jazz & Blues Festival and releasing her debut single, You Again, by Kenneth D. Laub. Recorded with guitarist Stuart Jackaman and bassist Terry Pack and produced by five-time Grammy-nominated producer James McMillan, it is the first in a series of recordings showcasing Laura’s distinctive approach to vocal jazz.
Following the release, Laura was invited to the BBC Radio studios in Tunbridge Wells, where she was interviewed by presenter Adam Dowling and performed live with Stuart Jackaman. The session also featured a full play of You Again and was broadcast across BBC Radio Kent, BBC Radio Sussex and BBC Radio Surrey.
Laura performs with an outstanding roster of jazz musicians in line-ups ranging from intimate duos and trios through to larger ensembles, always placing storytelling, beautiful melodies and a genuine connection with her audience at the heart of her music.
